How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Here comes the time for our anniversary contest – a month late, but better late than never ! Between catching the flu and everything else, I’m a bit late on certain things.

THE Theme : Our Fortress is Burning.

Yes, yes, I know … but there is a reason why I chose that name for our group – other than because of this great song by this American band that I love : [link]

What is that reason, you may ask ? Well, here it is : Our Fortress could be/is: what we are, what we hide, what we protect or the very things that scare us the most. It is Burning ... for several reasons : dramatic ones, ironic ones, philosophical ones, comical ones, etc. Maybe we are the one who set it on fire in order to be able to go on/move on ... Maybe we are burning our past ... maybe it is burning as a consequence of our own wars or maybe because we just didn’t like it anymore, it was ugly or out of style ...

So here is our theme. What is your Fortress? Why is it burning ? Tell us. There are no limits when it comes to styles : a satire will be considered just as seriously as a text that is more or deeply sad. Nihilistic. Satirical. Sexual. Romantic. Funny. Quirky. Everything goes.

I (Frantz) will be the only judge and judging will be based on 3 criteria : 1/3 technique, 1/3 originality and 1/3 “je ne sais quoi” (that little something extra, if you will ). The presentation of your deviation will also be taken into consideration. Since I don’t have a complete understanding of English (note : Hi ! This is =Wordeea translating *lombregrise words here ) and since I am not a pro when it comes to visual artwork, I have contacts who’ll give me a hand when it comes time to judge those deviations.

3 categories :

Francophone. Poetry, vignettes (620 words/one page maximum – anything more than that will be declined), prose (620 words maximum – anything more than that will be declined)

Anglophone. Same as above.

Visual. Photography, drawings – digi or trad (if there are a lot of entries, we will split this category)

PRIZES

WITHIN EACH CATEGORY
First place : 999 points.
Second place : 666 points (hehehe ^^)
Third place : 333 points.

THE ULTIMATE WINNER
Overall winner, all categories : 1200 points for the winner. Plus a translation if it is a text in French or English or a collaboration if it is a visual deviation.

This is a topic that is very close to my heart; therefore you can rest assured that my friendships, here on dA, will not interfere in any way in my decisions. Everyone will be given a fair shake. Sophie, the co-founder of this group, can participate if she wishes. (Sophie aka =Wordeea here : this is very gracious, but I will not participate ) I will be as cold as dead ashes in winter – ask her, she can confirm that fact. (Sophie note: yeah, he’s good at that. I’m the heart, he’s the brain )

Of course, if we only get three and a half participants, there will not be such generous prizes – they will be kept for a future contest instead.

Lastly, if the deviations submitted are of average quality, I might decide to decrease the amount of points per prize; and if the devs proposed are downright mediocre, no prizes will be awarded...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST : THE RULES

A. You have to be a member of the group; if you are not, become one...

B. The deviations submitted must have been done for the purpose of this contest. No recycling of old deviations allowed.

C. In the comments of your deviation, you must mention that it is made for this contest and include the Fortress’ icon :

D. You can submit your deviation in as many groups as you want.

E. The deviations must be submitted in the Theme of the Month folder ("thème du mois - prompt of the month) as soon as right now.

F. Only one deviation per member

A great theme!

The only thing i would have added is that Visual Art (dig, trad) should be Original Art..and not photomanip..
It's the same as in poetry and literature..no one wants bits and pieces of other poems and essays put together to present as an entry..
Wellll, that's just my opinion...but i've been quite tired of all the (usually) forlorn women photos being copied and pasted with a software tool, and branches and leaves and birds..and..and..other stuff juxtaposed..ugh..

..your friend's work is very polished and professional..she's very good at her craft..and in choosing stock images that would have a great appeal to the majority of people..i can see why she's popular..

as for me, this is a subject that i have a very strong opinion about, and i can write a very long dissertation on..but i won't tire anyone here..after all this is a fun competition, and i'd have to say again: a very strong and great theme! i'm sure the entries are gonna be powerful and truly interesting to see..
